But one big question about the camera for Galaxy A8 2018 remains: how good is the camera it has?
That's what we started to learn, and we took the camera for Galaxy A8 2018 and the camera for Galaxy S8 together for the trip to compare the difference in image quality.
But first, let's look at the camera specs for a while. Galaxy A8 2018 has a single 16-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) on board and wide lens, f / 1.7, while Galaxy S8 has 12-megapixel camera (also with OIS and f / 1.7 lens). One compromise with quality comes in the video, because the camera for Galaxy A8 2018 can only record in resolutions up to 1080p, while the S8 can record 4K video with beautiful detail.
The bigger difference is on the front, where the A8 2018 has a dual camera system - with a 16-megapixel and one 13MP shooter-which is used to create a stylish selfie with a blurry "Portrait Mode" effect. Galaxy S8 has a single front camera that can not pull selfie portrait tricks.

When it comes to selfies, the Camera for Galaxy A8 2018 really shines. The background effects of "Live Focus" are blissfully awesome and make narcissistic photos look epic and memorable, like portraits. You can adjust the level of background blur, the details are abundant and overall, this is definitely one of the better front cameras out there.
Sharpness and detail
If we take a closer look to the details, we see a little homemade oversharpening halo on the A8, while the Galaxy S8 is sharp, but without such flashy artifacts.

The difference is not too great during the day - but it's still visible - but it's huge at night and in low light conditions, where the Galaxy S8 shines with lots of sharp details and images, while the A8 shoots a blurry picture. The good news is that the A8 2018 has an excellent front camera and a fuzzy Live Focus background effect works very well, capturing a truly memorable selfie.
