With Google Contacts Sync, contact synchronization with the cloud is done in the background. Thanks to this, all your contacts will be safe in the cloud even if you lose the device. You can also access and edit your contacts from your email account on devices such as PC or tablets. If desired, you can also force the contacts' manual synchronization from the corresponding option in the Contacts app.
However, attention must be paid when having several accounts available on the same device. If that were the case, all the contacts synchronized in each account would be available on the device. In turn, all the contacts on the device will be transferred to the accounts you have— so, for example, you may end up with work phone numbers available in your personal account.
