Ellipse is a smart bike lock that connects to your smartphone to provide keyless entry, theft detection, crash alerts and bike sharing.
With the Ellipse Smart Bike Lock, you can:
Lock and unlock with phone or proximity:
open the app and tap the locking circle, or enable proximity lock/unlock so you can just snap the shackle into the lock bar and walk away.
Receive theft alerts: when your bike is being tampered with, Ellipse will detect the motion and send you an alert.
Share access: create and set up your own bike share network with your friends and family.
Configure the touchpad: set a unique combination that can be used to lock or unlock Ellipse if your phone is unavailable.
Enable crash alerts: if you happen to be in an accident, your phone will notify your preferred emergency contacts.

  Last and final update: Locked my bike under a roof for 2 weeks. When I came back it was unresponsive. I plugged in a battery pack trying to jump start it. It sparked and smoked. Today I used a angle grinder to free my bike from this lock. I liked the idea but it never worked reliable for me. I always ended up using the touchpad combination because the app would just not find the lock. I learned my lesson and will never buy a startup lock. I got a Abus lock. Update: the updated app is now working a lot more reliable. I use it every day but unlocking with my smartphone is still a hit and miss. Sometimes I open the app and I see the connecting message and it works but often I open the app and it just shows me a "not connected" message with no option to connect. --- Current the firmware update problem and I finally was able to reset my password for the app and connect back to my lock. Thank you for getting these fixed. I'll evaluate the app over the next week's and update my rating accordingly.

  Terrible connectivity issues. Standing right by the lock with the app open and it won't pair to the lock when it had been working fine in the days prior. The "Not Connected" circle is torturous, especially when I'm at the train station trying to lock up my bike. I've resorted to using the manual lock code, but I will be giving up on the lock and asking for a refund.

  The app is kind of a skeleton of something that could be good but right now isn't because of consistent connectivity problems. The theft detection also doesn't seem to work most of the time even when I'm definitely connected. The lock itself works fine with the PIN code.
