Description of Navit

Navit for Android is an open source (GPL) car navigation system.
It will display your position on a map (in bird-view mode or as a 3D "visualization") from GPS sensor data, and can provide precise route calculation, touch screen functionality and supports Points of Interest (POI).
Unlike other navigation systems, Navit maps are dynamically generated in real time from vector data.
Navit is completly offline and works without an internet connection. Navit respects your privacy and does not track your position.

  Installed incl. maps & tried routing on android. But its very poor. Idk how it will work on car nav system on my mitsubishi thru info in navit website thou. If its not workin on android then how it'll be on car gps. I hope they improve it. For now, i uninstalled it right after testing result.

  very difficult to use in oz. cannot get maps to function with it.

  Best offline navigation app I've used, but with some annoying problems. This version will not download map files; I had to move them from another device. Address search is quirky; sometimes it works after an annoying search; sometimes the place I'm looking for is not offered. Could use a search based on postal code.
