Todos os dias cada Português produz uma média de 1,32 kg de lixo, contribuindo para uma produção anual de 4,75 milhões de toneladas de resíduos urbanos para os quais temos que dar um destino. A diversidade de materiais, embalagens e equipamentos que possuímos em casa, compostos por uma gama muito variada de componentes, dificulta a nossa decisão quando eles se transformam em “lixo” e os queremos encaminhar para reciclagem.
Aliás, essa tarefa difícil reflete-se nos números, apenas 16,5% do total de resíduos produzidos em Portugal são encaminhados para os ecopontos, valor muito baixo que vai dificultar a tarefa de separar os diversos materiais e encaminhá-los para reciclagem o que se vai refletir na taxa de tratamento do lixo, ou seja quanto menos separarmos mais pagamos.
Por outro lado, o facto de comprarmos cada vez mais produtos embalados, haver pouca resposta para reutilizamos o nosso lixo ou não conseguirmos recuperar os equipamentos, leva a que todos os anos a quantidade de lixo que produzimos aumente.
Posto isto, a nossa realidade atual é uma necessidade de tratar 83,5% de resíduos todos misturados, dos quais temos que retirar materiais para reciclar e valorizar, tendo à nossa frente uma meta de reciclagem de 50%, até 2022. É uma tarefa quase impossível porque atualmente a nossa reciclagem está na ordem dos 38%.
No futuro esperam-nos metas ainda mais ambiciosas. Em 2035, temos que reduzir a deposição em aterro de 32% para apenas 10% e aumentar a reciclagem para 65%.
Sabemos que separar o lixo em casa é uma tarefa árdua, dada a variedade de detritos com diferentes destinos. Muitos, não devem ser colocados nos ecopontos e por vezes não é fácil perceber quais estão ou não abrangidos por este sistema.
Outros fluxos de resíduos têm sido desenvolvidos em Portugal por forma a dar um destino adequado a diversos resíduos, mas essa informação não está por vezes acessível ao cidadão.

Poderá consultar a aplicação no seu telemóvel (ios ou android), ou no computador e pesquisar os destinos mais próximos duma grande variedade de resíduos separados por cerca de 50 tipologias de resíduos diferentes. A aplicação é muito fácil de utilizar e que permite-o encontrar rapidamente o local mais próximo da sua localização onde entregar o lixo que possui em casa. Poderá ainda esclarecer as dúvidas que tem sobre os resíduos que deve ou não colocar no ecoponto e nos diversos fluxos de resíduos que existem em Portugal.

Every day each Portuguese produces an average of 1.32 kg of waste, contributing to an annual production of 4.75 million tons of urban waste for which we have to give a destination. The diversity of materials, packaging and equipment that we have at home, composed of a very varied range of components, makes it difficult for us to decide when they become "junk" and we want them to be recycled.
In fact, this difficult task is reflected in the numbers, only 16.5% of the total waste produced in Portugal is sent to the ecopoints, a very low value that will make it difficult to separate the different materials and refer them to recycling. it will be reflected in the rate of treatment of the garbage, that is to say the less we separate the more we pay.
On the other hand, the fact that we buy more and more packaged products, have little response to reuse our garbage or we can not recover the equipment, every year the amount of garbage we produce increases.
Given this, our current reality is a need to treat 83.5% of all mixed waste, from which we have to withdraw materials to recycle and valorize, having before us a goal of recycling of 50%, until 2022. It is a task almost impossible because currently our recycling is in the order of 38%.
In the future, even more ambitious goals await us. By 2035 we have to reduce landfill from 32% to only 10% and increase recycling to 65%.
We know that separating household waste is an arduous task given the variety of waste with different destinations. Many should not be placed in ecopoints and sometimes it is not easy to see which ones are covered by this system.
Other waste streams have been developed in Portugal in order to provide a suitable destination for several wastes, but this information is sometimes not available to the citizen.

You can check the application on your mobile phone (ios or android) or computer and search the nearest destinations for a wide variety of waste separated by about 50 different types of waste. The application is very easy to use and allows you to quickly find the location closest to where you deliver the trash you own at home. You can also clarify the doubts you have about the waste that you should or should not put in the ecoponto and the various waste streams that exist in Portugal.
