تاريخ الدولة العثمانية من الظهور وحتى السقوطلقد كان القرن السابع الهجري، (الثالث عشر الميلادي) فترة سوداء في تاريخ العالم الإسلامي بأسره، ففي الوقت الذي تقدمت فيه جحافل المغول الوثنيين من الشرق، وقضت على الخلافة العباسية في بغداد كانت بقايا الجيوش الصليبية لا تزال تحتل أجزاء من شواطئ فلسطين! ومما زاد الحالة سوءًا أن الدولة الأيوبية التي تولت حماية العالم الإسلامي من هجمات الصليبيين أخذت تضعف بعد وفاة منشئها صلاح الدين. وقد ترتب على هذا أن أخذت مناطق المسلمين تتقلص بين ضربات الوثنيين من الشرق، وحملات المسيحيين من الغرب. وراح بعض الناس يعتقد أن الإسلام لن تقوم له قائمة مرة أخري، إلا أن الكارثة لم تقع. تُرى ما سبب ذلك؟ يقول المؤرخون: هناك سببان: أولهما: أنه بالرغم من انتصار المغول على المسلمين في ميدان الحرب فإن الإسلام انتصر عليهم في ميدان العقيدة، ففي أقل من نصف قرن دخل المغول الإسلام، فأصبحوا يدافعون عنه، وينشرونه بين أهليهم في أواسط آسيا. أما ثانيهما فهو أن دولة المماليك التي خلفت الأيوبيين على مصر في سنة 648هـ/1250م، كانت دولة عسكرية قوية يرأسها قواد الجيش من المماليك. وكان هؤلاء المماليك، وهم من الأتراك والأرمن وغيرهما، قد وصلوا إلى المناصب العالية في الجيش أثناء حكم الأيوبيين. وأخيرًا، تولوا الحكم، وعينوا من بينهم السلاطين للدولة، وقد كان لهؤلاء المماليك الفضل في إيقاف زحف المغول عند "عين جالوت" سنة 658/1260 م، كما انتزعوا من الصليبيين "عكا" وكانت آخر معقل لهم في الشرق سنة 692هـ/1292م.
