Train List

On May 12, 2020, India will restart its rail service after suspending it for more than a month, and first run some trains connecting the capital to all parts of the country. Although the number of new coronavirus diagnoses is increasing, the government is considering relaxing the blockade for nearly seven weeks.

In a statement on the evening of the 10th, the Indian Ministry of Railways said that the Indian Railways is planning to "restart passenger train operation gradually" starting on the 12th, and will provide round-trip train services connecting New Delhi with 15 cities including Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, and Kolkata.

How to Book Ticket

The tickets for these train services can only be booked online via the IRCTC website (irctc.co.in) or the IRCTC mobile app. Indian Railways has said that counter ticket operations at railway stations will continue to remain shut. Additionally, you will not be able to book tickets for these trains through IRCTC or Indian Railways authorised agents as well.

The day after the government announced the restart of some train services, hundreds of Indian passengers lined up with travel bags on their heads, waiting in line to a train station in western Gujarat. At a railway station in central Uttar Pradesh, eager passengers have already gathered there.

Indian Prime Minister Modi and his government were caught flat-footed by the mass migration needs of people and are considering relaxing the blockade. From May 1, the government has arranged trains to transport unemployed migrant workers stranded in the city to their hometowns. Each train can carry 1,200 people.
