Description

Maintaining healthy humidity levels within a home can be hard. Too high, or too low humidity, can encourage mold, mites, bacteria and virus infections, dry skin, damage to wooden furniture/flooring, and more.
Safe relative humidity for a home is usually between 30% to 50% according to Health Canada. This range can vary, however, depending on different geographic locations and climates. Please check with local health regulations on what constitutes a healthy range.
This app (without any connected sensors or products) calculates your estimated indoor relative humidity after fresh outside air is exchanged with all the air in your home. To provide you this calculation, it grabs your current outdoor weather conditions and uses your set internal house temperature.
Exchanging air with the outside through an air exchanger or by opening windows, at the wrong time can create unhealthy humidity levels. For instance, if you want dryer air into your home it might be best to exchange air just before sunrise. Or if you want wetter air, it might be best to wait for a humid or rainy day. These conditions change from day to day, season to season, but this app can help.
Notes:
- This app supports both Fahrenheit or Celsius.
- This app does not directly measure relative humidity. Most phones do not have the required sensors.
- Having your own home hygrometer (optional) is a great addition. It would allow you to physically measure current relative humidity levels within your home.
