Zakir Naik was born on October 18, 1965, in Mumbai, India to the father, Abdul Karim Naik, and mother, Pochamma Naik. Naik was the student of St. Peter’s High School in Mumbai then he attended at Kishinchand Chellaram College. Naik studied in Medicine at Topiwala National Medical College and Nair Hospital. He received a degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from University of Mumbai. Naik was very much impressed by an Islamic preacher, Ahmed Deedat whom Zakir met in 1987.

To establish the better credibility of Islam through a comparative analysis of various religions, that’s his strategy. Zakir Naik thinks that every Muslim should break down the wrong ideas about Islam and fight against the false propaganda of western media. He demonstrates that despite anti-Islamic advertising between September 2001 and July 2002 more than 34,000 Americans have squeezed Islam. He has been relentlessly writing on various topics of Islam and received King Faisal International Prize for outstanding knowledge about religion.
Early Life – The Background of Dr. Zakir Naik
Born in 1965 in Mumbai, Zakir Abdul Karim Naik went to St. Peter’s High School in Mumbai. He studied in KC College and later studied medicine (MBBS)
in Topiwala National Medical College and Nair Hopsital in Mumbai.
In the year 1991, almost 25 years ago, he founded IRF – Islamic Research Foundation after he started working in the field of Dawah. IRF is a non -profit charitable trust that promotes Islamic Dawah i.e. understanding of Islam through presentations through various channels including TV.
Naik’s Aim and Mission is to concentrate on the Educated Muslims
Unlike other Muslim preachers Dr. Zakir Naik goal is to concentrate mainly on the educated young Muslims who have become apologetic about Islam. Through his presentations, he mainly tries to focus on those young educated Muslims who think their religion Islam is now outdated.
He Has Received Several Awards and Recognition for his Services to Promote Islam
He has received several awards including Malaysia’s Ma’al Hijrah Distinguished Personality Award. This award was conferred to him in 2013.
In Dubai, he was named as the Islamic Personality of the Year by DIHQA – Dubai International Holy Quran Award. In 2015, Dr. Naik was awarded Saudia Arabia’s most prestigious award – the King Faisal International Prize for Service to Islam.
Zakir Naik is married to Farhat Naik who too hails from Mumbai. Mrs. Naik has a master’s degree in Commerce. She is also the principal of Islamic school opened by Dr. Naik. She often gives lectures on Islam not only in India but other countries as well including US, Canada and Australia. The couple has 3 daughters and 1 son.
