Description

Guardian Angels was created to help strengthen the physical and mental well being of those who live alone.
On a daily basis, the Guardian Angels service sends users a wellness check, asking them how they are doing. If users don't respond before a specified time then close friends and/or family ('Guardian Angels') will be asked to check on the individual. This feature gives users confidence that, if they were physically injured and/or unable to reach or use their phone that a Guardian Angel would check on them.
More commonly however, users will be able to respond to their daily wellness check which is also shared with their Guardian Angels. This serves as a friendly prompt to Guardian Angels to follow-up with the user and often triggers natural conversations. Isolation can be harmful to one's health so Guardian Angels presents users with the daily opportunity to respond to their wellness check thereby subtly raising awareness with their Guardian Angels. Social interaction is very important and many individuals don't want to intrude on the lives of their friends and families. Guardian Angels is designed to overcome this and helps promote communication thereby improving mental well being.
Guardian Angels is for the young and old. Whether you're temporarily living alone while attending University or are living alone permanently, Guardian Angels is for you.
Please note: Guardian Angels is not a replacement for emergency monitoring services nor is it meant to replace established chat apps.
The idea for Guardian Angels arose as a result of three specific incidents:
1) The Grandmother of a close family friend had fallen and was unable to reach her phone. She lay on the floor for 4 days without food or water and would have died if her granddaughter had not come to visit
2) A close family member was widowed at a young age and found herself living alone in a new city and longing to feel connected
3) A former colleague passed away suddenly and loved ones were not alerted until many days later
It is our hope that Guardian Angels will help avoid these types of situations from happening.
