Description of CBT Mental Health Application

A large portion of the population is struggling with anxiety or other mental or physical disability which can be treated effectively using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Unfortunately, only a small portion of those individuals seek treatment. This may be due, in large part, to cost of treatment and embarrassment. Thus, we have created a free-to-use mobile application for individual treatment using CBT.
The CBT mental health mobile application is a free-to-use app which (i) adds medication reminders, (ii) creates coping mechanisms which are both individualised to the user and fear specific, (iii) helps break down fears into smaller more manageable steps which can be tracked both on the calendar and using the activity history page, and (iv) has a thought journal to track and combat unhealthy thought patterns.
Cognitive Behavioural therapy, an evidence based treatment, focuses on thoughts and behaviours which make up the basis of anxiety. The idea is that thoughts about a situation affect how we feel, both emotionally and physically, and how we behave. Therefore, CBT teaches new ways or modified ways of thinking and behaving about a situation.
According to Anxiety BC, CBT is one of the most effective treatments for anxiety and other illnesses such as depression, chronic pain, eating disorders, anger issues, addiction and low self-esteem.
