  This app gets the job done. But BOY is it !INFESTED! with ads! I haven't seen any while just using the icons, so you only have to march through the hardseller swamp "once". IMPROVEMENT SUGGESTION (apart from the obvious...): Remember state of checkbox "Hide app title". Try "Gianticon" by Gabriel Taubman, which does exactly what you want but costs 50ct. In both apps, you can't edit an icon widget once it has been established, but in both you can freely change the image suggested by the app.
