Movie This Friday is a review aggregator application for movies. It is designed to make your movie choosing decisions a breeze. Movie related apps are dime a dozen on the Play Store, so what makes this one stand out from the crowd. Allow me to illustrate the features of the app, by telling you a story. Yay, its story telling time!!!
One fine weekend I and my friend were getting awesomely bored to hell. Let’s call my friend Deepak. Why Deepak you may wonder? As every third person is software professional in India, similarly every third person is named Deepak by their parents. I bet you may have at least on friend named Deepak. So back to being bored, as cricket and movies are the favorite pastime in India, we decided to watch a movie. Now the most thought provoking question arises, which movie to watch. We went online to a ticket booking portal and searched for the movies currently running in the theatres. We checked out the trailers of those movies on YouTube. I really liked a thriller movie which was recently released, while Deepak was bent on seeing an action flick. So to decide, we called up few friends to know their opinion about them. Alas, we got a mixed response. Still not able to decide, we checked out few critic reviews. After a lot of deliberation we choose to watch the action flick. So dishoom dishoom here we come!!! But that movie turned out to be an extravagant mess of over the top action, with no plot or storyline thrown in. What a waste of a fine afternoon!!! Don’t even remind me about the money!!!
The above experience made me thinking, that there should be a better way to decide which movie to watch. That thought was the seed that led to the making of the Movie This Friday app. Here you can find movie reviews from over dozen prestigious publications, written by some of the some of the most learned critics in the industry. Each movie is provided with an average critic score and a percentage score based on how many critics gave it a three or more.
