At five days of January 1967 in the city of Nova Friburgo, State of Rio de Janeiro, the Wesleyan Methodist Church was founded, and is composed initially of ministers and laity who cooperated in the Methodist Church of Brazil.
     The reasons that led to the shutdown on the occasion of the 11th Council Regional of the Methodist Church of Brazil, based on the baptism of the doctrine of the Holy Spirit as a second blessing to the believer, and acceptance of the Pentecostal work, including gifts mentioned in the Holy Bible: Wisdom, Faith, Science, Gifts of Healing, Operation Wonderland, prophecy, discernment, Languages ​​and Language Interpretation and spiritual songs, revelations and visions. By adding further the realization of the spiritual revival work, the choruses of songs, prayers for the sick and worship without liturgy and protocols.
     At 14 hours the above date, there was a meeting that became known as "Meeting of the Bridge", because it was made on a bridge in the courtyard of the Getulio Vargas Foundation, under the direction of pastors Idelmício Cabral dos Santos and Waldemar Gomes de Figueiredo. On that occasion, the Wesleyan Methodist Church was definitely founded by accepting as a form of government with a centralized General Council, followed in general the Methodist system. Were present at the meeting the following people: Idelmício Cabral dos Santos, Waldemar Gomes de Figueiredo, José Moreira da Silva, Francisco Teodoro Batista, Gessé Teixeira de Carvalho, Coro da Silva Pereira, José Mendes da Silva, Zeny da Silva Pereira, Dinah Batista Rubim , Ariosto Mendes da Silva Mendes Wilson, Jacir Vieira and Antonio Sobrinho Faleiro.
     At the time, he was elected the first General Council, which was constituted as follows: Superintendent-General Waldemar Gomes de Figueiredo; Secretary General: Gessé Teixeira de Carvalho; including the three departments: Missions, Christian Education and Social Action; and treasurer-general: Idelmício Cabral dos Santos. The Wesleyan movement began to develop gloriously, and it is called the Constitutional Council to meet in the city of Petropolis, from 16 to 19 February 1967, when it was organized the Church.
     New workers joined the Wesleyan ranks and several evangelists were elected. It was consolidated the Lord's Work. The statutes of the Church have been approved and the members of the General Council were elected officially: Superintendent-General Waldemar Gomes de Figueiredo; Secretary General missions: Gessé Teixeira de Carvalho; secretary general of social action: oriel Soares do Nascimento; Secretary-general of finance: Idelmício Cabral dos Santos; Chairman of the Financial Board of the Wesleyan Methodist Church: Francisco Teodoro Batista; and editor of the periodical Wesleyan Voice: Gessé Teixeira de Carvalho.
