ولد صاحب الجلالة الملك محمد السادس، في يوم 21 غشت 1963 بالرباط. وهو الملك الثالث والعشرون للدولة العلوية الشريفة، التي تولت عرش المملكة المغربية منذ منتصف القرن السابع عشر الميلادي.
- وتنحدر الأسرة العلوية من السلالة النبوية الشريفة، التي ينتهي نسبها إلى الرسول الأعظم سيدنا محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم. وكانت قد استقرت بمدينة سجلماسة، بمنطقة تافيلالت جنوب المغرب.

الملك محمد بن الحسن بن محمد بن يوسف بن الحسن بن محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن هشام بن محمد بن عبد الله الخطيب بن إسماعيل بن مولاي علي الشريف العلوي (21 أغسطس 1963 ء) وملك المغرب. هو الملك الثالث والعشرون لسلالة العلويين. وتمت البيعة الشرعية له ملكًا يوم 23 يوليو 1999 إثر وفاة والده الملك الحسن الثاني. وبحسب دراسة نشرت في عام 2009 وأشرف عليها باحثون ومختصون دوليون، فإنه واحد من بين أكثر خمسين شخصية مسلمة تأثيرًا في العالم.
