বৃহস্পতিবার সকালে আবহাওয়ার বিশেষ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে বলা হয়েছে, পশ্চিম-মধ্য বঙ্গোপসাগর ও কাছাকাছি এলাকায় ঘূর্ণিঝড় ‘ফণী’ সামান্য উত্তর ও উত্তর-পূর্ব দিকে অগ্রসর হয়ে একই এলাকায় অবস্থান করছে।

ঘুর্ণিঝড় ফনির প্রভাবে সমুদ্র উত্তাল হয়ে ওঠায় বুধবার রাতে বন্দর ভবনে অনুষ্ঠিত এক জরুরী সভায় বাড়তি সতর্কতা জারি করেছে চট্টগ্রাম বন্দর। এছাড়া কর্ণফূলী নদীতে অবস্থান করা সব লাইটার জাহাজগুলোকে বন্দর এলাকা থেকে দুরে কর্ণফূলী সেতুর ওপারে নিরাপদে চলে যেতে বলা হয়েছে। এছাড়া সীতাকুন্ডের জাহাজ ভাঙ্গা শিল্প এলাকায় বিচিং করা জাহাজগুলো যাতে ভেসে যেতে না পারে সেজন্য পাথর বা পানি বোঝাই করে রাখারও নির্দেশ দিয়েছে বন্দর কর্তৃপক্ষ।
খুলনায় ঘূর্ণিঝড় ফণী মোকাবেলায় ব্যাপক প্রস্তুতি নিয়েছে খুলনা জেলা প্রশাসন। ঘূর্ণিঝড় ফণী মোকাবিলায় জেলা প্রশাসকের কার্যালয়ে একটি এবং ৯ টি উপজেলায় নয়টি কন্ট্রোল রুম খোলা হয়েছে।খুলে দেয়া হয়েছে ২৫০টি সাইক্লোন শেল্টার। জেলার দাকোপ, পাইকগাছা ও কয়রা উপজেলার সব কর্মকর্তা কর্মচারীর ছুটি বাতিল করা হয়েছে।এছাড়া সার্বিক সব প্রস্তুতি নেয়া হয়েছে জানালেন এই জেলা প্রশাসক। কক্সবাজার সমুদ্র বন্দরকে ৪ নং হুঁশিয়ারি সংকেত দেখিয়ে যেতে বলা হয়েছে। মাছ ধরার ট্রলারগুলোকে পরবর্তী নির্দেশ না দেয়া পর্যন্ত নিরাপদ উপকূলে অবস্থানের নির্দেশ দেয়া হয়েছে। ঘূর্ণিঝড় ফণী মোকাবেলায় বাগেরহাটের ২৩৪ টি ঘূর্ণিঝড় আশ্রয় কেন্দ্র প্রস্তুত রাখা হয়েছে। পাশাপাশি জেলার সকল সরকারি কর্মকর্তা-কর্মচারীদের ছুটি বাতিল করা হয়েছে।
উপকূলের দিকে ধেঁয়ে আসা ঘূর্ণিঝড় ‘ফণি’ মোকাবেলায় বুধবার সন্ধায় বরগুনা সদর উপজেলা পরিষদে দুর্যোগের আগে ও পরে করণীয় বিষয়ে প্রস্তুতি সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। প্রত্যেক উপজেলায় খোলা হয়েছে কন্ট্রোল রুম। একইভাবে ঝালকাঠিতে চাল ও প্যাকেটজাত খাবারসহ নগদ টাকা, ৪৫টি সাইক্লোন সেন্টার ও আশ্রয়কেন্দ্র প্রস্তুত রাখা হয়েছে।
