The church of Saint Nikolaos Orfanos is a World Heritage monument protected by
UNESCO. It is an old Byzantine Catholic monastery located in Thessaloniki, built in the early 14th century as a dependency of the Vlatadon Monastery. According to tradition preserved,
an orphanage called "Saint Nicholas of Orphans”
