Through this self-guided auto tour, we hope to help you enjoy some of what the Upper Peninsula (UP) of Michigan has to offer and to learn more about our great forest resources. This tour is designed to guide you through this vast land of changing and actively managed terrain and to assist the traveler in learning about our beautiful and productive forests.
As you travel the roadways of the Upper Peninsula, you will see road signs with our distinctive green shield and a number that corresponds to a forest type on the map included in the app.

The app contains descriptions of each forest type that we, as foresters in the U.P., manage for timber, recreation and ecological values.
Take a moment as you drive by a site to ponder the wonderful visual, economic, and recreational value of timberland, not only in the Upper Peninsula, but worldwide.
