God gives us flashes of His appearance when He teaches us truths about Him, not necessarily so that we can make an image of Him in our mind. Two passages that powerfully describe the amazing appearance of God are in Ezekiel 1: 26-28 and Revelation 1: 14-16.
Ezekiel 1: 26-28 states, "And on the expanse that was over their heads was the figure of a throne that looked like sapphire stone; and on the figure of the throne there was a resemblance that resembled a man sitting on it. And I saw an appearance like a gleaming bronze, like the appearance of fire within it round about, from the aspect of its loins upward; and from his loins down, I saw that it looked like fire, and that it had a glow around it. As the rainbow appears in the clouds on the day it rains, so was the appearance of the brightness around. "Revelation 1: 14-16 proclaims," ​​His head and his hair were white as white wool, as snow; his eyes like a flame of fire; and his feet like burnished bronze, shining as in a furnace; and his voice like the sound of many waters.
