Essentially, there’s a button for blocking attacks, another for launching attacks and a third for jumping. Marvel Contest of Champions has those, but you’ll need to pay close attention to what your fingers are doing and when.

If all your team members are alive, you can swipe on the left side of the champion selection screen to change the character facing the opponent (this is different than changing the team set up), you can only choose a champion in Story Mode, since in Versus Mode, you can only pick one champion at a time.
