Sailor's Mate

Sailor's Mate is a free app for anyone taking to the water who'd like a quick, easy way to find a course to steer (CTS) and their true speed over the ground (SoG) to confirm their own navigation calculations. Latest update adds a dedicated screen for displaying GPS location and speed, and a feature for tracking a stored location.
Simply fill in the known speed and direction for the tide, the estimated speed of your vessel and the course you want to follow, and the app calculates which way to steer and how fast you'll really be moving. Works on almost every size of android device and in both portrait and landscape for convenient operation and ease of viewing.
Comes with an easy to access 'night mode' to help you keep your night vision whilst still being clear to see.

Designed for boat sailors by a sailor (ex-RN), although power-boaters are allowed to use it too! Tidal stream information can be found in local guides, charts and almanacs.
Note: This app is strictly to lend a hand to those who know what they're doing & helps to confirm your own calculations! It is not a substitute for proper planning before attempting to navigate. If you aren't confident PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE attend a course run by a reputable sailing school and get the skills you need before venturing out.
