Naga attempted to track down the Blood Moon, but all his efforts were in vain, as she found not a single trace of the Blood Moon anywhere. One day after arriving to a particular nondescript bluff on the edge of a nondescript mountain ridge Naga could take it no longer.
He dropped to his knees and began sobbing.
Years of grief over the loss of his infant brother, the loss of his innocence and the ancestral loss of the Blood Moon poured from him.
A sea of infinite sorrow emptied from his belly, until
Naga reached bottom. And here, at the bottom of this infinite sea of sorrow, a strange calmness overtook him. In the midst of this calmness something appeared that shocked and changed Naga forever:
Blood Moon Dragons are mostly nocturnal creatures. When outside in the sun, the small red spatters on their back grow and spread, making the dragons appear to ‘bleed’. It is said that the darker the shade of red, the more aggressive the dragon. Their tail barbs contain a powerful neuro-toxin which they use' to subdue their prey. They are solitary creatures except when mating, preferring to dwell in the caves in mountains or other high places. Their large wingspan makes them fast flyers as well as fast runners, but they prefer to glide instead. Males are very competitive and will try almost everything to impress a female, who will choose their mates based on their speed and performance. Juveniles tend to form bachelor groups once fledged.
An immense Red dragon materialized before him.
It spread its’ wings wide and then roared a deafening roar inches from his face.
Naga had never experienced such raw, pure fear. He recoiled, only slightly however, remaining in the calmness with the realization that he had nothing to lose. The fear did not touch him.
The calmness gave him the courage to stare directly at the hideous dragon.
He locked eyes with the great beast and screamed, ”Take me!”
The red dragon folded its’ wings, lowered its’ head and opened its eyes wide so that Naga could get a good look.
assuming this was to be his gruesome end, looked once again directly into the eyes of the monster and stoically accepted his fate. And in that moment, a miracle occurred.
Upon looking into the eyes of the black dragon Naga recognized someone whom he had known his whole life.
Those eyes! . . .Those caring, accepting eyes.
These were not the eyes of a hideous black dragon; these were the eyes of the angel dragon of the blood moon himself!
This realization sent shivers down his spine and sent waves of energy pouring out his eyes, hands, feet and heart.
And then, to his utter amazement and disbelief the dragon of the blood moon morphed into the angel dragon.
Naga stood breathless and spellbound.
