**Please note, this app was initially designed for healthcare providers to help their patients get the medications covered on their insurance plan at the lowest tier. We are in the process of creating a patient-focused version of the app that should be available (as a paid app) in the summer of 2019. In the mean time, patients can still get a lot of value out of using this version of the app to navigate their formulary.
The Covered Rx is an innovative tool designed for doctors and their staff that allows them to instantly determine which medications are covered by a patient’s prescription formulary and at what tier they are on.
By using a system similar to how pharmacies process and verify prescription coverage, The Covered Rx returns patient-specific formulary data that can help your office:
- Reduce the number of unexpected prior authorizations and rejections at the pharmacy level.
- Provide a better patient experience by reducing delays in treatment that are due to higher-than-expected costs, coverage rejections, or unexpected prior auths.
- Compare coverage of drugs within a medication class (anti-depressants, SGLT-2 inhibitors, etc.).
The Covered Rx will allow you to prescribe a medication that you KNOW is on formulary for each patient. How many unexpected prior auths or rejections does your office handle each week? How much time can you save by KNOWING what is covered?

Here is how it's done:
Step 1: Input the patient's prescription insurance information (RxBin, RxPCN, etc.). If you are in a hurry or just want to show how tech-savy you are,
use the "Extract Data with Camera" feature for this step (tip: this is usually the most precise way to get the correct plan and it takes a fraction of the time required for manual entry).
Step 2: Usually, by the time you pull up this app, you will have an idea of what medication you are going to prescribe the patient. Type that drug into the search bar and then choose whether you want to add just that drug to your inquiry or the entire class of drugs it belongs to. Once you have the inquiry list how you want it, hit "search Coverage".
Step 3: Observe and be amazed. The coverage results are returned within a second or two. If the drug you initially had in mind isn't covered, at a high tier, or requires a prior auth, you find out immediately and can either switch to a medication in the class that is covered or prepare the patient for what to expect at the pharmacy.
