The East Asia Petrochemical Industry Conference (EAPIC) was originally founded in 1979 by the petrochemical associations in East Asia – Japan Petrochemical Industry Association (JPCA), Korea Petrochemical Industry Association (KPIA) and Petrochemical Industry Association of Taiwan (PIAT). Over two decades, presidents, chairmen, board directors and senior managers of various leading Asian petrochemical companies had convened to discuss challenges confronting the industry. The responsibility to host the annual conference had been equally shared by each member of the founding association on a rotational basis.
In 2000, the founding members of EAPIC decided to open its membership to other major petrochemical associations in Asia. In the same year, the conference was also renamed as the Asia Petrochemical Industry Conference (APIC) to better reflect the diversified membership. Since then, APIC has been an effective avenue in facilitating exchange of valuable information, sharing issues of common concern, and moreover, serving as an excellent platform in networking global professionals who are interested in the Asian petrochemical industry and business. In recent years, the conference has typically attracted over 1,000 senior corporate executives in the petrochemical, chemical, and chemical-related industries from around the world to keep them updated on the latest developments of petrochemical industry and business in Asia.
The main objective of the conference is to spur discussion and co-operation on the issues of the day facing the industry, such as growth, trade, environment, sustainability amongst the industry, especially in Asia and around the world and thereby contribute to the advancement of their economies in general, and the petrochemical industry in particular.
