Sometimes, though, the camera can make trickier platforming elements harder than they should be.
Although Rook’s AI is formidable, using his Proto-tool to blast, grapple or melee enemies, Omniverse is best enjoyed with friends.
There’s a drop-in coop function available from the start, and the in-depth tutorial explains how to make best use of each character’s abilities.
Ben Alien Omniverse Force Fighting doesn’t push any boundaries graphics-wise, with bland textures and samey-looking enemies.
Early environments, in particular, are drab and lifeless.
However, there’s a certain charm to its cell-shaded visuals, more than reminiscent of the recent Borderlands 2.
This proves that children’s games can still be made without skimping on quality, and for that reason, it’s a rare gem.
