*VERY EARLY STAGE APP* In the fall of 2016 a small VR film crew set off to construction site of the 1000 mile long North Dakota Access Pipeline. There they documented how indigenous women warriors stood in defiance of militarized police to protect the water for the 18 million people, plants, and animals dependent upon the Missouri River. Standing Rock VR is a Virtual Reality Experience examining how over 300 Indigenous peoples from across the globe, gathered to voice in unison "Mni Wiconi!" or "Water is Life!" This app enlighten users on issues ranging from as resistance in -20F blizzards to respecting indigenous cultural sovereignty.
The Standing Rock VR App will allow you, the user, to explore the peaceful protest camps in a geographic spatial interface using satellite imagery and 3D reconstruction of the camp. This interface will guide users to view in context 360 film gathered at the Oceti Sakowin camps. Coming soon!
